What is the Subject Landing Page?
When a customer visits your job's private URL, or any job with Registration active, they now land on a single page that shows them exactly where they stand — instead of always seeing a generic lookup or registration form. If PhotoDay already has a reason to recognize them, they'll see a card for each matched subject with the right next step already available: visit the gallery, finish registering, or verify their email to unlock a match.
How customers are recognized
When a customer signs in or creates an account at your job URL, PhotoDay checks for a match in a few ways:
Their phone number or email matches subject data you've uploaded for the job.
They've already accessed that subject's gallery before — for example, through a previous Gallery Lookup search.
They previously opted in to SMS updates for that subject.
If the match is on a phone number, or an email the customer already verified by creating their account with it, the subject connects automatically and shows up right away. If the match is only on an email that was never the customer's own verified account method, the subject shows as locked until they verify that email (see below).
The benefit for returning customers
This is especially useful for anyone who's used Gallery Lookup before. Previously, a customer had to re-enter their subject's search fields (name, student ID, etc.) every single time they came back to look for a gallery. Now, once a subject has been matched or looked up once, that customer's next visit to the job URL shows their subject right there on the Customer Landing Page — no searching, no re-entering information required.
What customers see for each matched subject
The subject's reference photo and name
Visit Gallery — shown if the subject is registered
Register — shown if the subject isn't registered yet, opening a registration form pre-filled with anything already known
A registration status indicator, if Registration is enabled on the job
Locked subjects — email verification
If a subject is matched only through an unverified email, the customer sees it listed but locked, with a prompt to verify that email address. Verifying sends a short code to that email; entering it correctly unlocks the subject immediately, revealing the gallery link and registration status. This step only applies to matches made on data the customer didn't use to sign in with — it doesn't apply to phone matches, prior gallery access, SMS opt-in matches, or an email the customer already verified by creating their account with it.
Adding another subject
From the landing page, customers can always add another subject:
If Gallery Lookup is enabled, "look up another subject" runs your existing Gallery Lookup search first, so an existing record is found and connected rather than duplicated.
If Gallery Lookup is not enabled, "register another subject" opens a blank registration form.
This applies to anyone landing on the page — including someone who isn't the primary registered parent (a grandparent or other relative, for example) adding a child who hasn't been matched to anyone yet.
Registration and Gallery Lookup working together
If both are enabled on a job, they now hand off to each other instead of operating as separate paths:
A customer who looks up a subject and confirms it's theirs is connected immediately — if registration is open, they're taken right into completing it, pre-filled with anything already known.
A lookup that finds no match still creates the subject record and connects it, then routes into registration, rather than leaving the customer stuck.
What doesn't change
The registration form itself, the Gallery Lookup search fields you've configured, and the gallery experience are all unchanged. This feature only changes how a customer arrives at those existing experiences.
FAQs
Do I need to turn this on?
No — this is how every private job URL behaves now; there's no separate setting to enable.
What if my job doesn't have Registration or Gallery Lookup enabled?
If you are sharing private gallery access codes / direct links with your customers rather than the generic Job URL then your customers will just go directly into their gallery rather than needing to be routed at the Landing Page.
What if someone else already registered the subject?
The next person who looks it up still gets a card for that subject, showing it as already registered with a gallery link — but no registration action, since it's already complete.
Will a customer have to search for their subject again if they come back later?
No — once a subject is matched or looked up once, it shows up automatically on the Landing Page for every future visit to that job URL.
