Are you uploading photos, but nothing is happening? There are a few reasons why your photos could be taking an unusual amount of time to upload to your job. We'll address how to fix them in this article!

Your Upload Speed

The most common reason behind slow uploads is your internet connection itself. On average, your upload speed is about 10 times slower than your download speed, and both are regulated by your Internet Service Provider. You can get an idea of how fast your connection is by running a speed test at http://www.speedtest.net/ and taking a look specifically at your upload speed. If it’s on the low end, that will more than likely be the root of the issue.

If that is the case, we recommend attempting to upload your photos using another internet connection, perhaps at a coffee shop or other accessible location with a higher Mbps upload speed. If your photos upload without issue on this new network, we recommend contacting your Internet Service Provider to discuss why your upload speeds are being limited.

Your Image Files Are Large

Another factor affecting your upload speeds is the size of the images you are uploading to your gallery. Images can be large sometimes, almost excessively so, and if you are attempting to upload entire folders of files well into the gigabyte range, it might take a while to complete. We recommend attempting to reduce the size of your image files to a format that does not compromise the overall quality of the image.

Please note: PhotoDay does have individual file size requirements. Check them out here.
