How to protect your photos with Auto Blur, Info Overlay, and Screen Block

We’re excited to introduce the first of many image protection measures to help prevent screenshots and the sharing of photos that haven't been purchased from their galleries.

Although no current technological solution in the market can guarantee 100% prevention of digital image theft and AI-driven image reconstruction, we can make it harder. At PhotoDay, we promise to be transparent and upfront about how our image protection measures function as we continue to research and develop solutions.

This article will walk you through the Image Protection Panel.

Get Started

To get started, open a Job > Settings > Image Protection. This section groups all related protections and makes them visible, understandable, and configurable in one place on a per-job basis.

Auto Blur will be on by default in all jobs. This automatically blurs gallery images when the browser loses focus or when screenshot-related key combinations are detected, while preserving a clear experience during normal browsing. This feature is only available on desktop devices.

Customer Info Overlay will be off by default in all jobs, but can be enabled per job if desired. When enabled, we will use shopper information from a customer's account (e.g., shopper name and email or phone) and overlay it (on top of the existing rendered watermark) on the images in the gallery experience. The intent is to deter sharing by making the shopper’s information visible and personally undesirable to distribute publicly.

Screen Block will automatically black out any screenshots taken on a mobile device in a PhotoDay gallery. This feature is iOS only for now, but support for Android devices is in progress. Screen Block is enabled by default for all your jobs.
